Summer Camp
Woodcraft Rangers has been inspiring children with summer camp experiences for over 80 years. This year, residential summer camp will take place at Blue Sky Meadow, a beautiful camp nestled high in the San Bernardino Forest seven miles from the town of Big Bear.
As always, the agency’s summer camp programs focus on outdoor living skills and nature activities. Campers are encouraged to explore and test their strengths and build character in a safe and supportive environment. After participating in nature hikes, archery, scavenger hunts, map & compass adventures, arts & crafts, survival skills games and star-gazing, campers return home with a better understanding of the outdoor world and greater confidence in their abilities. Summer camp also provides an opportunity for kids to just be kids – to have fun while forging lifelong friendships, developing important skills and discovering new interests.

Outdoor Education Camp
Through outdoor education study, laboratory work and group discussion, young people learn to apply scientific concepts, test problem-solving skills and build an understanding of the effects of man and technology on the environment. Subject matter covers such fields as earth science, physical science, and life science.
Leadership Development Camp
In Leadership Development Camp, participants learn how to set and accomplish goals as part of a team. Goals include physical challenges, mental challenges and comprehensive social-development skills. Through activities and observation, participants learn and practice leadership roles. After each activity, group interaction and debriefing with trained staff facilitators provide further opportunity to build personal development skills, as well as to enhance decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
Family Camp
Woodcraft Rangers offers special weekend Family Camps for children and parents to bond together. Family camp includes facilitated parent training in effective but loving discipline and communication skills. These weekend campouts are structured to encourage positive family interactions in a stress-reduced, nurturing environment. Family members select the specific activities they want to participate in, but all participants enjoy traditional campfire activities and songs.
